It’s been nearly six years since the mandated adoption of the 5010™ EDI standards, so the industry is evaluating the next proposed version, known as 7030™. Providers, payers and ABILITY Strategic Partners who wish to comment on the new standard as it relates to healthcare eligibility inquiries, benefit inquiries and information response can do so from now until Nov. 30, 2017.
Next Comment Period is Scheduled
An insurance subcommittee of X12 launched a new comment period in September on healthcare eligibility inquiries, benefit inquiries and information response. The comment process is open to the public and input can be given online. The comment period ends Nov. 30.
While there is no immediate operational impact to the industry, the final creation and implementation of 7030 (if mandated) will affect every payer, provider and ABILITY Strategic Partner that uses electronic processing. In other words, just about everybody.
