The Pitfalls of PBJ

The Payroll Based Journal process is under way, and the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) have launched their requirements that skilled nursing facilities electronically submit direct care staffing hours, staff tenure and turnover information, and census data on a quarterly basis.

Within each of the required data elements are multiple provisions. Even if you think you’re PBJ-ready, take a look to make sure you won’t get ambushed by a little-known detail that could derail your reimbursement as well as your star ratings.
